Hot off the Press: Our 2023 Annual Report!

I'm excited to announce the publication of our 2023 Annual Report! A limited number of printed copies will be appearing at the branches soon, but you can see the digital flipbook version online NOW thanks to the wonderful work of our Web Applications Technician, Andre Paquette.

This is our third year of producing a printed Annual Report. Digital versions of all three reports can be accessed through the Annual Reports link in the footer of our homepage under the "ABOUT US" heading. 

A project of this magnitude takes a village. Every single department contributed in some way through the services we provide, to the photos we take and share, to the data we collect and analyze.

Ann Decherd, Anna Lyle, and I have been collaborating on this project since mid January. Holly Barfield, Jinhee Yang, Jeff Fisher, Kim Ottesen, Lorraine Lane, Nikki Watkins, and Joanie Goforth all assisted with the statistics. Kim Ottesen and Nikki Watkins were our proofreaders.

Sara Baggett-Preston captured the beautiful candid photo on page 10 of a man reading to a child at the Post Road Library. Kaity Bowers captured the joy of the Denmark Library Groundbreaking Ceremony featured on page 11. The Materials Department did a great job taking photos of their team in action for a Board presentation last year. Love those smiles! 

Our Annual Reports get better every year thanks to the outstanding photos captured by FCPL staff! Please continue to upload and/or post shortcuts to the best of the best pics in the Photo Archive > 2024 > Amazing Pics folder. Thank you to Kim Ottesen for coming up with and executing the Amazing Pics folder system for us, and to Joanie Goforth for regularly alerting me to great pictures she comes across in other places. 

Lastly, please check out the "2023 by the  Numbers" section on page 14. Seeing a visual of just how many meeting room reservations we managed, programs we delivered, questions we answered, program attendees we educated, visitors we welcomed, and items we checked out is truly awe-inspiring. What we do matters, and I hope this report gives you a sense of pride in the role you play delivering such outstanding library services to the residents of Forsyth County.
