Here’s a handful of exciting programs to highlight for the week of July 15, 2024.

The Brilliant Donkey - World Tales of Beasts, Books and Bravado

When: Thursday, July 18 at 6:30–7:15 p.m.

Where: Cumming Library 

What: Storyteller Barry Stewart Mann will share a collection of folk stories from the Middle East, Mexico, Cambodia, and West Africa featuring puppets, props, and audience participation! All will be told with the help of adorable puppets, colorful props, inventive costumes, and plenty of chances for volunteers to come up and take a role in the action All ages welcome!

End of Summer Adult Trivia Night

When: Thursday, July 18 at 7:00–8:30 p.m.

Where: Post Road Library 

What: Put your knowledge to the test at our end of summer trivia night! Bring your friends to play as a team or come alone and play solo. Trivia questions are geared toward adults in both content and challenge level.

Big Time Groove: Adventures in Rhythm and Rhyme

When: Friday, July 19 at 11:00–11:45 a.m.

Where: Sharon Forks Library 

What: Get in the groove with interactive rhythm-based storytelling and drum-along fun for the whole family. All ages welcome! Event passes will be handed out beginning 30 minutes prior to the show.

Family Puzzle Tournament

When: Saturday, July 20 at 2:00–4:30 p.m.

Where: Post Road Library 

What: Teams of two to four people will see who can put together a puzzle the fastest. Puzzles will be supplied. This program is suited for elementary age and up. Event passes will be handed out 30 minutes prior to the event.

Adventure on the Moon - with Moon Rocks!

When: Sunday, July 21 at 2:00–3:30 p.m.

Where: Hampton Park Library

What: See pieces of the moon up close and learn some interesting facts about our trips to our nearest celestial neighbor presented by Dr. Brooke Skelton, Professor of Physics and Astronomy with Georgia State University! For adults.

Cora Moten's "The Creeping Thing": A Pulp Fiction Story - Race and American Culture

When: Sunday, July 21 at 2:00–4:00 p.m.

Where: Sharon Forks Library 

What: Explore the world of Black pulp fiction through Moten's "The Creeping Thing" and how pulp magazines shaped the genres we know and love today. This program is the sixteenth in our ongoing "Race and American Culture" series. To access the excerpts we will use for the discussion, click here or visit any branch for a physical copy.
