Here are some informative and fun events to highlight for our patrons during the week of September 9, 2024.

Teen Writers' Club - For grades 6–12

When: Tuesday, September 10 at 6:30–8:00 p.m.

Where: Cumming Library

What: Meet fellow teen writers who share your passion! Writing tips, strategies and samples will be shared. Receive valuable feedback to improve your writing. No registration required.

Talk Saves Lives - An Introduction to Suicide Prevention

When: Wednesday, September 11 at 7:00–8:00 p.m.

Where: Post Road Library

What: This presentation by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention will cover current research about suicide, what risk factors are, how to recognize warning signs, prevention tactics, and how to help others in relation to this kind of mental health crisis.

 

Math Madness - with Mathnasium of Coal Mountain

When: Saturday, September 14 at 10:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.

Where: Hampton Park Library 

What: Put your math skills to the test with fun math games presented by Mathnasium of Coal Mountain! This program is intended for elementary-aged children in their families. No registration is required.

Adult MakerDay: Kusudama Flowers

When: Sunday, September 15 at 2:00–3:30 p.m.

Where: Post Road Library

What: Learn to fold, assemble and create a beautiful kusudama flower bouquet from old book pages. Event passes will be handed out 30 minutes prior to the event, so be on time to claim your spot!

Administrations of Lunacy - An Author Talk with Mab Segrest

When: Sunday, September 15 at 3:00–4:00 p.m.

Where: Sharon Forks Library 

What: Author Mab Segrest discusses her book Administrations of Lunacy on The Georgia State Lunatic, Idiot and Epileptic Asylum and the evolution of the field of psychiatry.
