Important Information about eAudiobooks Moving from RBDigital to OverDrive
As you may be aware, all of the
FCPL eAudiobooks that we access through RBDigital will be moving into
OverDrive.
The date for this move is the
morning of Wednesday August 12. Starting
that morning at around 0800am Eastern Time access to eAudiobook titles in the
RBDigital app will be turned off to allow migration to OverDrive. It will
take an estimated four hours for most content to begin appearing within
OverDrive, and up to 24 hours for all content to fully populate. After this time, FCPL patrons will access eAudiobook
content exclusively through OverDrive and the LIBBY app.
Current checkouts within
RBDigital will remain in the RBDigital app for
the remainder of the checkout period. However,
current holds will not be carried over from holds lists in RBDigital into
OverDrive. Patrons will need to download, export, or copy the items they have on hold in RBDigital and then manually place these holds in OverDrive.
Please remember that we have
already been purchasing eAudiobooks for OverDrive, and many patrons will be
familiar with the OverDrive and LIBBY interface. However, be prepared for
some patrons who have used RBDigital exclusively and need assistance with LIBBY.

Patron access to OverDrive and the Libby app should not be affected during this time. Patrons with current checkouts in RBDigital, placed prior to August 12, should still be able to access these materials within the RBDigital app. However, any materials that are migrated from RBDigital to OverDrive may be unavailable for up to 24 hours. Most of these materials will be available after the four hour window.

ReplyDeletePatrons will be notified of this transition through the Library's social media and website. OverDrive has indicated that they will begin running a transition message on the RBDigital app at least one week prior to the migration.
