June and July are often slower months in terms of Tutor.com usage as compared to months within the traditional academic year. This is best explained by the fact that most elements of the public school system are closed during these months.
However, just as we have seen an increase in the use of electronic resources the last few months, the June usage of Tutor.com has also seen an increase as compared to a year ago. The month of June 2019 saw 161 live one-to-one sessions by our patrons on Tutor.com. The month of June 2020 saw 288 live one-to-one sessions. This is an increase of 127 sessions.
Another interesting statistic is the top sessions by grade level figure. During the month of June 2020, this statistic was dominated by the 'College-Intro' grade level at 134 sessions. The second highest grade level represented was 12th grade at 65 sessions. This figure may be explained by many colleges currently offering an online only model of instruction, and students in introductory level college courses not having access to in person tutors at campuses as they normally would.
This increase in the summer usage of Tutor.com may lead to continued increases in the summer of 2021. We may also see a high level of usage of college level resources in the fall of 2020 as more college students return to class and/or choose to opt for an online form of post-secondary instruction.
