Even though we are moving away from Microsoft Office, you can still open and play PowerPoint files, including those that a presenter for a library program might bring in. The easiest way to do this is to open the PowerPoint file in LibreOffice Impress. Impress should be installed on all branch programming and training laptops and is able to open and present PowerPoint files.
Another option is to upload the PowerPoint file to Google Drive. Google Slides can play back PowerPoint files stored on Google Drive. This will not work if there is audio embedded in the PowerPoint file or if the PowerPoint file is very large (bigger than 50 Megabytes).
A third option that we are testing is using the PowerPoint mobile app (which is free) to open and play back PowerPoint files. On laptops and PCs, this app can only be installed from the Windows store. If you use the PowerPoint mobile app, it will prompt you to sign in to an account. Please do not do this because it is not necessary. Please choose the "Skip for now" option and you will then be able to open, view, and play back (but not edit) PowerPoint files.
