Here is a sampling of recaps from June 16 through June 22: 

Lew-E’s Comedy Circus at PR
Session 1: 68 children, 107 adults
Session 2: 108 children, 72 adults
“Fantastic Show with Lew-E at Post Road! Patrons laughed and smiled at jokes, puppets and circus tricks. Lew-E began a pre-show at 10:45 for the 11:00 show. During the pre-show he talked all about Beanstack, and asked the audience about the books they are reading. Even during the show he brought up and presented the Post Road Summer Program Guide. He even mentioned that his monster puppet had a SRC lanyard, and has been reading over the summer. With rainy weather we still had a full house. As patrons were leaving we received several thank you comments along with a grandparent that said he enjoyed it just as much as his grandson. Another patron spoke with Melissa and said her kids loved it and she did too. She said she started her day with a smile and she really needed that.” – Tina Pearson

Cumming Health and Rehab with Outreach

“On Wednesday we had our monthly visit to Cumming Health and Rehab. Kandy shared a presentation she had written on Libraries Around the World. In her presentation she had beautiful pictures of some of the most interesting libraries. The 10 residents in attendance had so much fun voting on their favorite libraries using emojis. After the presentation, Kandy and I visited some of the residents' rooms to deliver books. Ms. Cecila Brock, originally a mailbox book patron, now enjoys the personal touch of room delivery. Seven residents receive room delivery.” – Lorraine Lane

Basics of Bass Fishing for Teens and Tweens at HP

“Despite the rainy weather, we had a great crowd! Ken is an excellent speaker, and kept the audience engaged while discussing the best techniques for bass fishing in our area. He went over several different types of bait, including stick bait, crank bait, spinner bait, and buzz bait. He also talked about how which coloring should be used for bait depending on how murky the water is, and when you should change your fishing line. The patrons were all enthralled, and many stayed later to ask questions.” – Kayla Bolton

The Planets: A Universe of Friends with Jerry G. White at SF

“Jerry is the king of audience participation! I'd bet that every child who wanted to had a chance to come up front and participate in some way. He started with some percussion. I really liked the parts of the show where he was playing the various instruments. The main part of the show had to do with the planets. He called up one kid for each planet and they orbited the audience. He then called up a second kid for each planet who helped illustrate some facts about the planet. Each one was accompanied by a sample of music which was a clue. He also sang an original song and finished with a bit more percussion. The audience seemed to enjoy it and only a few did not stay until the end. All of the planet books on display were checked out.” – Amy Billings

Learn Regency Dance at CU

“First she [Kat Nagar of Atlanta Historic Dance] and another lady danced a quick dance with a lot of footwork. Then the whole group performed Mr. Beveridge's Maggot, which is Lizzie and Darcy's dance in the 1995 Pride and Prejudice. She explained that quick, lively dances with lots of footwork were common for the time, but adaptations often opt for the slower dances with more walking for the filmmaking convenience of fitting in dialogue without killing actors! Then, it was time to learn! Hole in the Wall was the first dance. Most of the audience stepped in and paired off, a few remained seated to enjoy watching. The dance group made sure everyone got to dance who wanted to, no one stood awkwardly without a partner. Kat walked everyone through the steps a few times before having them dance with the music while she called it. They learned three dances total, and then everyone waltzed for a bit after the history of the waltz was introduced, then they ended the program with one last dance demonstration, a lively circle dance.” – Kaity Pittard
