Each spring, all electronic databases purchased by the Library are evaluated. The evaluation includes a review of usage, relevancy, potential alternatives, and current needs of patrons. Other factors reviewed are cost per use and the database interface functionality.
As in past fiscal years, the Library will not be renewing some databases for fiscal year 2024, beginning on July 1. The non-renewal of these databases will allow funding to be directed to other areas, including more funds for eBooks and eAudiobooks through Libby, as well as new resources.
The databases that will not be renewed for FY2024 are (parent company listed in parenthesis):
- Middle and High School Nonfiction eBook Collection (Infobase)
- World Almanac for Kids Elementary (Infobase)
- Romance Book Cloud (TumbleBook Company)
- Universal Class (OverDrive)
Please note that we will continue to provide other databases and eResources from Infobase, TumbleBook Company, and OverDrive in FY2024, including Access eVideos, Tumblemath, and ArtistWorks.
Please watch this space for forthcoming information regarding our newest electronic database for FY2024: LOTE4Kids (rhymes with BOAT).
