MAS - Summertime Edition

Cumming Library is very excited to be hosting the first edition of Mentor Me's MAS summer edition. What is MAS? Mentoring After School! Only it's summer.

After discussions with Kim, Anna, and Ann this spring it was decided that Mentor Me North Georgia would launch their first Mentoring After School summer edition program here in the Cumming Library as a central meeting point for students from around the county. Each class serves 25 different elementary students with one-to-one mentoring in a group setting. The students are elementary age. The mentors are aged 6th grade and way beyond. We even spotted one of our VolunTEENS and a former library staff member mentoring.    

Class is being held Mondays and Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m. in the meeting room at Cumming Library. Students read, play games, and do some super fun learning with their mentors.

On alternating Wednesdays the parents and caregivers are invited to attend Conversational English with the Cumming staff. The first Wednesday 6 parents stopped in for CE class and 2 more told us they would be back next time. 

The students and mentors will receive library and secret garden tours over the course of the summer too!
