There’s something for everyone ready to learn something new this year! Check these fantastic programs for the week of January 22, 2024.


Hands-On History: Pioneer Days

When: Monday, January 22 at 1:00–2:30 p.m.

Where: Cumming Library

What: Learn about life for a pioneer on the trail or homestead! We will do some hands-on activities, including churning our own butter! Participants are welcome to dress up as we re-create this time in American history. Open to families. No registration required.


Working as an Extra: Stories from the Set

When: Wednesday, January 24 at 6:30–8:00 p.m.

Where: Sharon Forks Library

What: If you've ever thought about being in the movies, this is your opportunity to find out what a day in the life of an extra is really like. Seasoned film extra Bob Lusher will share

his experience working on a variety of projects for film and television. Mr. Lusher has worked as a background extra on more than 50 movies and 35 television series, including The Founder, Sully, The Hunger Games, Captain America, The Walking Dead, Ozark, and Stranger Things.


Craft Supply Swap Fair: Pastime Pursuits

When: Saturday, January 27 at 1:00–3:00 p.m.

Where: Hampton Park Library

What: Recycle your unused craft supplies and pick up some that are new to you! We will accept donations from January 2-25 at Hampton Park.


Beautiful Bobbin Lace: Pastime Pursuits

When: Sunday, January 28 at 2:00–4:00 p.m.

Where: Post Road Library

What:Join us as the Atlanta Lace Group presents a class on how to make beautiful handmade bobbin lace. This technique involves weaving bobbins loaded with thread and following a pattern to make the lace. At the end of this class you will know all about the materials required and how to get started making your own exquisite lace to decorate anything you desire. Registration is recommended.


An Afternoon of Jazz with Dwan Bosman: Celebrating Black Heritage

When: Sunday, January 28 at 4:00–5:00 p.m.

Where: Sharon Forks Library

What: Enjoy saxophonist Dwan Bosman performing the music of iconic jazz masters and contemporary songs rooted in jazz.
