Post Road Peeps

Submitted by Anthony Caspanello

A pair of new CSAs, another new part-time IS, a new group of eager VolunTEENS, and so much more. It takes a small army to run the average library branch. A challenge at Post Road we have noticed, especially as it relates to volunteers, it takes a while for every member of the staff to get to know volunteers and for volunteers to get to know us. With varying schedules it might be a month between a part-time employee's first encounter with a two hour per week volunteer. To help match a face with a name and to avoid the question - "Hey, what's their name again" - a solution was concocted.

The Post Road Peep Board

In our workroom near the mailboxes, the volunteer sign in sheet, and the Friends donation corner, the point where staff, volunteers and Friends converge, our new bulletin board displays all of our Peeps that contribute to our collective success. Included is a VIP (Very Important Peep) section to include common visitors to our branch. If you see us frequently and you are not already on the board, let us snap a picture next time you are here and we will get you added.

We hope that this board helps volunteers get acquainted with who we are and what each person does, as well as, make it easier on staff to identify our wonderful volunteers and acknowledge and appreciate them when they are here. There is currently a bit of open real estate on our Peep Board that we are excited to fill with this summer's VolunTEENS when they start in May.
