And now, the grand finale! Please allow me to present this year's recipients of the award for...

30 (!!!) YEARS OF SERVICE

Holly Barfield

IT and Facilities Manager, Administrative Offices "I started my career at FCPL as a CSA when we were part of the Gwinnett Forsyth Regional System. I was promoted to a Circulation Assistant when we had two desks (Circulation and Information). When we split from Gwinnett, I transferred to Materials and worked as a cataloger and then I moved to IT. I assisted with setting up the first ILS system for the new Forsyth County Public Library system. I also upgraded the system to make it Y2k compliant.

I spent the night at Sharon Forks to upgrade the system to the Horizon ILS. I spent the night at Cumming when we migrated the phones to a new system and I spent the night at Hampton Park when we were having fire alarm issues. Outside of work I am married with two children. Riley is a sophomore at UGA studying international law and Sean is sophomore at Dawson High School. I have three little dogs (Smaug, Tyrion, and Snitch.) I am also a certified soccer referee and I enjoy watching soccer."

Kim Tomblin Collection Development Librarian, Materials Department "My career at FCPL began before we were officially FCPL. What is now the Cumming Branch, was then the Forsyth Branch of the Gwinnett-Forsyth Regional Library when I was hired as a Circulation Assistant. Before long I moved into the Information Specialist position, and the library became Forsyth County Public Library around that same time. In 2002 I earned my MLIS from Clark Atlanta University. After many years in Public Services I eventually transferred to the Materials Department as a Collection Development Librarian. In this role I have had the wonderful opportunity of selecting almost every format, audience level and collection the library carries, at one time or another. The main collection I am currently responsible for is my favorite, Adult Nonfiction! My personal reading interests include history, science, speculative fiction and anything time travel. My favorite vacations involve a beach, and I enjoy writing in my spare time. I am a member of a writing group of fellow librarians, most of whom I met in my earlier days of working at FCPL. I hope to one day write a time travel novel with enough twists and surprises to keep the reader guessing until the very end!"
