OverDrive has announced some minor updates regarding accessing eAudiobooks through a website. Please remember that OverDrive continues to call the portal for accessing eAudiobooks and eBooks through a website 'OverDrive' while using the app is 'Libby.'
OverDrive is removing the MP3 eAudiobook format on November 13, 2024. A legacy OverDrive desktop app was required to to download eAudiobooks in the MP3 format. The desktop app has not been available for download since early 2022.
After this change, patrons have the following options to listen to eAudiobooks:
- Stream an eAudiobook through a computer using libbyapp.com
- Stream on a computer using the 'Listen now in browser' option on the OverDrive website
- Download an eAudiobook for offline listening using Libby on a supported device
