October was a busy time at Hampton Park Library, filled with early voting, fall fun, and plenty of programs! Staff flexed their creativity with book-themed pumpkins. Characters from Ladybug Girl, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and much more were put on display by the front desk. This year, we included pictures of the book covers and had patrons match the pumpkin with the book.
The Halloween fun continued in our programs. On the Adult side, patrons met to discuss horror music, learned about bats local to the area, and hunted for ghosts in the branch. This year, a new spirit, "The One Who Hides," was said to be lurking near the Study Rooms!
Youth Services had many Halloween programs to offer, including the Spooky Stories and S'mores edition of Connections Through Creativity. After participating in a host of fall festival games, families sat down with s'mores and enjoyed spooky storytelling from Tracy Walker. Tracy, a former FCPL staff member, had an array of chilling tales to share!
Our Elementary Explorers program had the kids put on their mad scientist goggles and create something new from dismembered toy parts. Kiddos and adults alike arrived in their best costumes for Trick or Treat Storytime. Ready, Set, Preschool concluded the festivities with exciting Halloween-themed activities and games.
October is always full of treats at Hampton Park!
