For the past few years the library has manned a team to help on the United Way Day of Caring. This year the United Way's normal day of caring with almost 1,000 volunteers had to be restructured. Some people sponsored food drives, others helped at local non-profits with small outdoor projects. Many businesses and individuals gave funds this year for already prepared meals to be delivered to local pantries but the library team wanted to really go to work. Today nine awesome volunteers spent the morning at the United Way office packing 5-bean soup packets. Thanks to Anna we had hoped to pack 100 packets but the team was so fast and smooth we ended up packing 12 cases of bean soup, almost 200. Each packet will feed a family of five. All the food assembled will be distributed to local food pantries here in Forsyth County. The morning went quickly with gloves, hairnets, aprons and masks in a socially distanced morning to help those in need here in our community. Thanks to all who participated.
