Women’s History Month

Who is Louise Cooper? She is a “Rosie the Riveter” from 1943 and lives in Forsyth County. She is amazed at the super-secret government technology called ZOOM and has decided to catch all of us up on what is going on at the homefront – the experience of building liberty ships with her gals at the Brunswick naval shipyards, the latest rationing rules, women’s changing roles in society, and how women are doing their part to help the Allies win the war. You may even recognize a few local names!

Rosie the Riveter: A Living History Presentation is an immersive and engaging experience featuring performer Tracy Lee White. Dressing the part, she will act as if the year is 1943, as a citizen of the times, and use authentic items such as currency, ration books, government publications, news reels, music, and clothing.

Can this program be anymore unique? Yes, it can! Attendees can register and be able to pick up a “time travel packet” prior to the program to help immerse them in 1943. The packet features a link to a video on how to do the victory roll 40’s hairstyle, a ration exercise, a recipe for Victory Cakes, and a quiz to bring back after the program to get a Rosie the Riveter button!  There will be a drawing for authentic 1943 steel pennies for anyone who attends the program!
