FCPL has had a special partnership for a number of years with Forsyth County Schools (FCS) which gives parents/guardians the option of allowing their student to use their school ID as a Forsyth County Public Library card number.
This year we are excited to announce that the Student Library Card program has expanded to include two additional schools: Pinecrest Academy (PCA) and Georgia Cyber Academy (GCA).
Read on for important new information about this expanded program...
Our IT department has just completed the upload of all the student data we received from these three schools for the 2022-2023 school year.
We are sending out emails later today to all the parents/guardians who opted in to this program. The email gives an overview of the program, provides information on how to use the student library card accounts, and encourages people to change their default PIN for security reasons.
Uploading new school data into Polaris overwrites existing student library card data, including any PINs that may have been changed since the last data upload. Therefore, you may see an uptick over the next few weeks in reports from FCS students that their PIN is no longer working.
We have created a Google Doc with all the pertinent information you need to know about this program, including the new default PIN algorithm for all three schools and the Student Library Card number format for each specific school. Please refer to this document for all the necessary details.
If you have any questions about the program after reading the Google Doc, please leave us a comment on this blog post or reach out to Holly Barfield.
