Denmark Update

Submitted by Sarah Reynolds

Good things are happening for Denmark! We have some recent developments regarding the project that we would like to share.

Funding

On Tuesday, June 11, the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners approved our amended 2024 funding request of $608,929.00 to open the Denmark Library. The request is slated to be ratified at the July 9 Work Session. This milestone brings us closer to opening the Denmark Library by late fall, although we have yet to announce a definitive opening date due to ongoing construction.

In May, the FCPL Friends and Advocates Board, in a show of their unwavering support, voted to donate $30,000 to the Denmark Library project to help fund the Friends Terrace. They had previously approved reserving $20,000 for this purpose, so we are deeply grateful for the additional $10,000! We will honor the Friends' generous contribution at an upcoming FCPL Board Meeting.

Staffing

We posted the branch supervisor positions and, in the coming months, will post the Information Specialist, Youth Specialist, and Collection Support Aide positions. These postings will not be location-specific, as we will be moving some staff who requested transfers and will need to backfill vacancies resulting from these transfers.

Construction

The project is making remarkable progress, and all construction teams are currently on schedule with the building completion plan. We invite you to visit the Denmark page on our website for photos and updates, and we're sure you'll share in our excitement for the future of the Denmark Library!
