Updated Mask Guidance from the CDC—what does this mean for FCPL?

You have probably heard that the CDC recently updated its mask guidance to now recommend that people in areas with a level of community transmission of COVID-19 designated as “high” or “substantial” wear masks indoors regardless of vaccination status.  As you can see from this map on the CDC website, most counties in Georgia are currently designated as having a high or substantial level of community transmission, with Forsyth County currently at a substantial level.

What does this mean for FCPL in terms of mask wearing?

Mask guidelines for staff and patrons are not changing at this time.  We are continuing to not require masks.  We do encourage everyone to use their best judgment about whether to wear a mask and when to do so.  If you are going to be in close proximity to others, especially if you are unaware of their vaccination status, it may be advisable to wear a mask.  We continue to have masks available for staff at all locations.  Social distancing ribbons are also available from HR if you would like one. 

What about vaccines?

The CDC continues to urge unvaccinated people to get vaccinated and to continue masking until they are fully vaccinated.  With the Delta variant, this is more urgent than ever.  We continue to highly recommend that all staff get the COVID-19 vaccine.

What about our COVID procedures?

Our COVID procedures (available on the COVID tab on Sharepoint) have not changed.  If you are not feeling well, stay home.  If you have had close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, stay home and contact HR before reporting to work (this includes vaccinated staff).

We will continue to keep you updated on positive cases among staff as well as any changes to procedures.  We appreciate those staff who have already reached out to report possible exposure or illness.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your supervisor or HR.
