As Anna discussed in her recent staff
blog post, we are looking at a variety of options to fully fund the implementation
of the salary study. The first important task is to ensure that we are
utilizing staff in the most efficient ways we can. We recently conducted a
thorough analysis of the level of staffing at each of the four branches related
to the level of activity, and concluded that two staff transfers made at this
time will help bring a little more balance to staff workloads among the four
branches and will help to keep the Personnel budget in line with where it needs
to be to achieve our goals.
Jane Elizabeth Sewell, who is currently a 25-hour Youth
Specialist at Hampton Park, will transfer to Post Road as a 25-hour Youth
Specialist. This will take the place of the 40-hour Youth Specialist position
that became vacant when Leslie Marinelli was promoted to Communications
Manager. Post Road had been the only branch to have two 40-hour Youth
Specialists. With this change, Post Road’s Youth Services department will be
staffed the same as those at Cumming and Sharon Forks, with a Youth Services
Supervisor, one 40-hour Youth Specialist, and four 25-hour Youth Specialists. Going
forward, Hampton Park’s Youth Services department will be staffed with a Youth
Services Supervisor, one 40-hour Youth Specialist, and one 25-hour Youth
Specialist.
Vaidhegi Vijayakumar, who is currently a 25-hour Information
Specialist at Sharon Forks, will transfer to Post Road as a 25-hour Information
Specialist. This is not to fill a current vacant position at Post Road (as
previously noted, three vacant positions--one 25-hour Information Specialist position
or Youth Specialist position at Cumming, Post Road, and Sharon Forks--were
eliminated). Rather, this move is to help balance the workloads between Post
Road and Sharon Forks. Both branches are extremely busy (Sharon Forks especially
in circulation and Post Road especially in information questions) but Sharon
Forks has been better staffed.
Both Jane Elizabeth and Vaidhegi will transfer to Post Road the week of October 31. Ann and the Post Road supervisors are excited to welcome these experienced FCPL staff members.
