The Poetry Packs in April were more popular than expected, so we decided to venture out into the world of Grab & Go bags for adults. Staff thought that making one hundred for every two weeks would be enough to last. We were wrong. Post Road staff have been awestruck by the positive response. All of the Grab & Go bags for the first two-week period were gone in three days. One hundred! This last batch of 136 bags lasted six days. Staff already have patrons asking when the next group of Grab & Go bags will be available.
Each Grab & Go bag is themed and includes sections for: Read It! (a bookmark), Make It! (a small craft), Do It! (ideas for things to do based on the theme), Bake It! (a recipe with one small ingredient such as salt or flaxseed). On July 1, the Grab & Go theme is local wildlife. Here are pictures of what’s included:
Patrons aren’t the only people loving this new way to engage with the library. Staff are excited to plan
more Grab & Go bags for adults. A Grab & Go bag is already in the works for September, which is
National Preparedness Month.
