Health Tip from CU's first day back.

Hello everyone. As we talked over the first day back for staff, a few folks  mentioned they had headaches later in the day. We decided this was due to wearing masks all day and forgetting to hydrate. Untying masks seemed like a lot of extra work or time. Someone mentioned a straw might be a good idea. While a straw may not work for everyone- please remember to stay hydrated during your shift. This will be especially true as the weather heats up. Welcome back to the building and remember to take care of yourself.

  2. Three days coming home sick, and not from the " fabricated virus". Headache, dizziness that lasts hours, and the best you can come up with is Dehydration? How about 5-8 hours of oxygen depravation? How about the toxic fumes from whatever is being used to clean? Mask rules are overkill even by CDC quidelines,(not that they are credible). Not worth returning to work next week.

  3. It’s beyond the scope of this blog to debate whether the virus is fabricated or the CDC is credible. As we prioritize staff health and safety, FCPL will continue to follow recommendations of the CDC and local Emergency Management. We will also comply with the Governor’s executive orders. The CDC does recommend the use of a face mask, albeit a cloth one. We have chosen to provide disposable masks for staff convenience. Staff are welcome to provide their own cloth masks, if that would be more comfortable for them. Governor Kemp’s 4/23/20 executive order requires employers to provide personal protective equipment as appropriate and enhanced sanitation of the workplace as appropriate. Based on conversations with FCPL staff, I believe most are more comfortable at work with their coworkers wearing masks and appreciate the enhanced sanitation of the workplace.

While the wearing of masks is a necessary precaution to help prevent exposure to one’s coworkers, we recognize that some staff may be unable to work while wearing a mask. We have placed an order for face shields for staff unable to wear masks, but those have not yet arrived.

Also, now that we have a few days’ experience and have seen how staff are spread out in the buildings, we will refine our requirements for mask-wearing and social distancing. Please expect a blog post about this in the next few days.

Employees who exhibit symptoms such as those described (persistent headaches and dizziness) should not be working. Please contact your supervisor or Nikki Watkins (watkinsn@forsythpl.org) to discuss your options.
