During the library’s closing collection activity through Unique management has been suspended. No contact in any form is being made to our patrons by Unique at this time. This will remain the case until we implement later phases of our reopening plan. We do not feel it is necessary to add additional stress to our patrons with the current situation.
We will resume the collection process with Unique at some point after we begin allowing patrons to access library buildings but not before. An update will be sent letting you know the date collection activity will resume.
In the meantime, please be aware that Polaris will continue to place blocks/add collection fees on patron records once patrons hit the thresholds we have in place. If you are contacted by a patron regarding collection fees added during our closure due to COVID-19 waive the fee. We want to do what we can to ensure all our patrons can access our eLibrary and use our curbside services at this time.
In addition to all collection activity being suspended from Unique they will not be processing HOLD notices. As we begin checking in materials on Friday 5/8 items will start to trigger holds. For patrons who have MAILER selected as their notification method, staff will need to manually contact these patrons. Every afternoon (after pull list/courier have been processed) each branch will be responsible for running a report that will provide the names of the MAILER patrons who have holds at their branch. Phone calls/emails will need to be made to those patrons by staff before leaving for the day. Directions on running this report will be sent out by Friday morning.
Patrons who have TEXT, EMAIL or PHONE as their notification method will continue to be notified as normal. The only change will be additional verbiage added about contacting the library to schedule a time to pick up their holds.
Please let your supervisor know if you have any questions or concerns.
