All is swell with ILL
Interlibrary Loan, or ILL, is a very popular service with our patrons. Normal Interlibrary Loan operations will not resume until June 1st.
There are several reasons for delaying the resumption of Interlibrary Loan services:
- Many libraries have not resumed operations at this time, so our pool of lenders is reduced
- Some libraries, particularly many higher education institutions, have indicated they are not resuming ILL operations until the fall (August/September); this further reduces our pool of potential lenders
Further information regarding Interlibrary Loan:
- Patrons should not return ILL items through the book drops
- We have requested extended due dates for ILL items; patrons should not worry about due dates on ILL items currently checked out; if a patron contacts you about this, please reach out to us and we can verify their due date has been extended
- Any ILLs currently on your hold shelf can be checked out to patrons via curbside appointment; please use June 1 as the due date in Polaris and update the date of the ILL band; If a patron no longer wants the ILL, please send back to HQ Materials
- If patrons want a renewal on an ILL item past June 1, please contact us via the ILL Mail email address as you would with the normal procedure and we will update
- Please send any ILL items that are returned through the book drops to HQ-Materials after quarantining the items
- We will be processing any ILL items that we received prior to or during the closure; patrons will be able to pick these up through curbside appointments
- We will return any ILL items that we do receive; some lenders have asked us to hold onto these items (in the Materials Department), until they are ready to receive again
