So what is Outreach doing when we can’t get out and about?
Well, like all of you, we are modifying our services to keep things rolling. We
miss our MBB patrons of course, so we created an eNewsletter to keep in touch
with those who use their email. We sent it to 55 folks and within minutes had
10 responses from patrons who were thrilled to hear from us. We also call regularly
to touch base and let them know we are here for them. Loneliness and isolation
are big factors in many of these patrons’ lives, and the current situation is
only making things worse. Even though we cannot offer them physical materials,
we can still provide a touchpoint from the outside world.
We are also contacting other groups that we work with, such
as Pier Foundation, Creative Enterprises, and Forsyth County Schools to share
resources and discuss future partnerships. We created a printable flyer for
clients of The Place of Forsyth that highlights free Wi-Fi in our parking lots,
how to get a library card, and how to access tutor.com. They began handing
them out with bags of food yesterday.
Lorraine is working on doing lots of continuing education,
and is particularly enjoying Supercharged
Storytime. Perhaps her most exciting project is CDL training for the
bookmobile!
I am working on policies, procedures, potential bookmobile
schedules, training manuals… all that paperwork that somehow keeps getting
pushed off the To Do list.
We hope you are all doing well. Please let us know if there
is anything we can help you with or if you have ideas on new and different ways
we can provide virtual outreach in addition to the AMAZING programs you all are
putting together.

I love that you are reaching out to these homebound folks!!😍
